Jane's love of photography began typically, when she was given a Polaroid camera for her 7th birthday. Life intervened and it was many years later that she began to think seriously about a career in photography.

A life-changing move to Sheffield in 1998 drew Jane to Loxley College where she began a part-time course in black and white photography. Inspired by this course, Jane signed up for a 2 year full-time course in professional photography at Norton College, Sheffield.

It was here that one of Jane's assignments 'People at Work' led her into the world of boxing. She chose renowned boxing coach Brendan Ingle, MBE as her subject. What started off as a couple of visits to observe and photograph Brendan at work grew into another passion for Jane.

She became a regular visitor to the gym and forged strong relationships with the boxers and trainers alike. To help her gain a better understanding of boxing, she started training at the gym herself and then studied and passed the exams to become an ABA (Amateur Boxing Association) judge.
